Looking for activities for your children or yourself this spring? Check out the virtual programs and in-person activities available through the Long Grove Park District. More programs will be added as restrictions are lifted.

All programs are open to individuals from any area town. Fees are the same for Long Grove residents and non-residents.
The goal of each of the offerings is to combine self-improvement and fun – a winning mix you and your children will enjoy and learn from. These programs will keep participants engaged and active throughout the school year.

Let’s play! Your child explores the wide world of sports as they participate in a different sport each week such as t-ball, soccer, track & field and Nerf football. Archery participants will learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a bow and fundamentals of shooting in a safe manner. Both technique and games will be a part of this class. Bring the entire family each week for 45 minutes of archery fun! You and your family members will meet new friends while learning the part of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, a nationally recognized beginner’s 9-step to the 10 ring progression method and fundamental shooting skills from an experienced instructor. This class is for those who have never played pickleball before or who have very limited experience with the sport. It will focus on pickleball basics such as forehand and backhand shots, serving and court positioning. Players will also learn scoring and the rules of the game through drills and playing time. The slower pace of this class will give players the opportunity to develop the skills needed to play this fun and energetic game. All equipment will be provided. Please bring a face covering. This class is for advancing beginners who have some experience and want to move at a faster pace to improve their basic shots and strategy. Players will participate in challenging drills to work on consistency in forehand and backhand shots, serving, volleying, dinks and lobs. Through matches played each week, players will get the chance to take their game to the next level by learning how to play smarter, not harder. All equipment will be provided. This unique class will combine stretching, movement and other fitness concepts with running, jumping, throwing and other skills used in track and field. Children will work on body coordination, agility, balance and self-confidence. On the last day they will participate in a fun-filled track and field meet. Participants will learn fitness concepts as they relate to the exercising and the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. They will participate in sprints, relays, long-distance walking, running, hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events as well as participate in a fun-filled SportsKids track and field meet on the last day of class. Get ready to score some hoops and goals in this fun class! Girls and boys learn the basic motor skills necessary to play basketball and soccer while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. Skills such as dribbling, running, kicking, catching, shooting and passing will be taught. Toddlers will develop motor, listening and social skills as they participate in a variety of activities designed around these two sports. Please bring a labeled water bottle and face covering. Toddlers can develop body awareness, balance, flexibility and coordination while having fun doing gymnastics. Parents assist with skills in a safe and caring environment. Time: 2:15 pm
Learn the proper way to perform rolls, cartwheels, backbends, handstands, walkovers and other tumbling tricks. Youngsters also learn rhythmic gymnastics body elements, jumps, turns and leaps as well as techniques with apparatus like hoops, balls, ribbons and jump ropes. Kids improve flexibility, gain strength and develop coordination, all of which help them in any sport. Start out learning the proper way to perform rolls, handstands and cartwheels. This class is a great introduction to tumbling and it opens the door to gymnastics possibilities. Please bring a labeled water bottle and face covering. Led by SportsKids Inc. at 2:15 pm
