* Beginner Figure SkatingBeginner Figure Skating

Beginning learn to skate classes are for 3-12 year olds with little or no ice experience. Balance and basic forward skating skills are taught using the Ice Skating Institute program. Please try to attend your assigned class as makeup classes are not offered. Skate rental is included in figure skating class fee. Gloves or mittens, bicycle helmet and light-weight clothing are required.

Hockey has quickly become one of the most popular sports around and 5 Star Sports believes everyone should be able to play. For these hockey classes we will forget the skates and just focus on the major skills of hockey: shooting, passing, puck handling, defense, and teamwork. Players will learn through a mix of skill-based games as well as fun, full on scrimmages. These classes allow the kids to learn new skills in an enjoyable, safe and controlled environment. This class helps develop balance and improve concentration while staying fit. Our fun and informative fencing classes teach students the basics from beginner to expert. Students can continue to improve by signing up for multiple classes. Safety is stressed and each participant handles a foil in every session. Students will learn moves and strategies that create the foundation for their fencing game. Each class features instructions and competition. All equipment provided. Class is instructed by Tracy Lapshin.

CheckMates Chess Academy focuses on teaching students of ALL SKILL LEVELS. Our unique curriculum makes learning chess fun and classes entertaining. For kids, chess is a game, an educational tool, and a great way to bond with family! We invite your children to enjoy this timeless game with us. We will be exploring chess tactics such as thinking ahead, correct positioning, and controlling the board while playing many chess related games like “Take Me” and “Crazy Queen!” Students will learn new strategies as well as ways to apply them to their everyday lives. Studies have shown that skills like concentrating, focusing, and weighing consequences are very beneficial for kids to learn, especially in a fun game like chess. The last day of class we will have an intra-class tournament, complete with PRIZES for all those who participate!

This class is for those who have never played pickleball before or who have very limited experience with the sport. It will focus on pickleball basics such as forehand and backhand shots, serving and court positioning. Players will also learn scoring and the rules of the game through drills and playing time. The slower pace of this class will give players the opportunity to develop the skills needed to play this fun and energetic game. All equipment will be provided. Led by SportsKids, Inc.

This class is for advancing beginners who have some experience and want to move at a faster pace to improve their basic shots and strategy. Players will participate in challenging drills to work on consistency in forehand and backhand shots, serving, volleying, dinks and lobs. Through matches played each week, players will get the chance to take their game to the next level by learning how to play smarter, not harder. All equipment will be provided. Led by SportsKids, Inc.

Session #3: Minecraft: Traveling into the future. This class will immerse students in the expansive world of Minecraft and will challenge a student’s ingenuity and problem-solving skills as they navigate through several engineering challenges. Students will learn how to use teamwork and manage resources like an engineer in the real world. Building in Minecraft allows students to experiment with designs and materials, all without the risks associated with building structures in reality. Minimum 8 students/max 20

This program is a must for players of all skill levels trying to improve on the fundamentals or learn the game for the first time. We will assist players with their skills and knowledge of passing, serving, defense, setting, blocking and hitting. Players will also work on technique, set location, play sets and footwork. They will learn offensive and defensive systems through team drills and game play. Led by SportsKids Inc.

This musical is an absolute blast, with familiar '50s songs, clever characters, and hilarious punch lines to spare! Join us for our spring production of At The Bandstand, arranged by Sally K. Albrecht, Jay Althouse, Andy Beck, and Greg Gilpin, original material by Andy Beck and Brian Fisher.

Ages 7-12. Learn the proper way to perform rolls, cartwheels, backbends, handstands, walkovers and other tumbling tricks. Youngsters also learn rhythmic gymnastics body elements, jumps, turns and leaps as well as techniques with apparatus like hoops, balls, ribbons and jump ropes. Kids improve flexibility, gain strength and develop coordination, all of which helps them in any sport. Start out learning the proper way to perform rolls, handstands and cartwheels. This class is a great introduction to tumbling and it opens the door to gymnastics possibilities. Led by SportsKids Inc.
